Statement: Health Care Without Harm 

Talks on the UN Plastics Treaty collapsed in Geneva after countries failed to agree on essential measures to cut plastic production, phase out toxic chemicals, and protect public health.

In the early hours of Friday, August 15, negotiators could not reach a consensus on the core provisions needed to address the key drivers of the plastics crisis. These included binding commitments to eliminate hazardous chemicals throughout the plastics lifecycle, reduce primary plastic production, and embed strong health protections.
