RECLAIM POWER WEEK
10 October 2014 – Today is the first day of action in the Reclaim Power Week of Action, with a focus on the World Bank and the role of international financial institutions in fuelling the climate crisis. There are many actions planned under the #ReclaimPower banner and even more as a part of the broader collaboration of #WorldvsBank.
Movements across the world will be taking action on energy during the Reclaim Power Week from 10 to 18 October. The week will highlight the demands and campaigns of communities and struggles, and to strengthen solidarity across these.
The different demands will be highlighted throughout the week. They are as follows:
- Ban new dirty energy projects.
- End government subsidies and public handouts to dirty energy companies.
- Stop excessive energy consumption by corporations and global elites.
- Redirect and mobilize public finance to ensure people’s universal access to energy and make the complete shift to public and community/decentralized renewable and clean energy systems as soon as possible.
