Newsletters

In December 1999, six months after our establishment, groundWork started publishing its legendary hard copy quarterly Newsletter. The first issue was edited by Linda Ambler, one of our three founders. Now in 2026, we are onto our 28th volume – power packed with learnings and lived experiences from the fencelines. Our content combines current climate and environmental justice issues, hard activist news of struggles on the fencelines and stories from each of our six thematic campaigns. Our Executive Director, Bobby Peek, opens each issue with his signature political editorial “Smokestack”, providing an overview of each quarter. An incisive, often satirical analysis of the state of climate science, justice and politics by Green Fly is another regular feature in each issue. Our Comms team Tsepang Molefe and Dorothy Brislin execute the planning, development, production, coordination and distribution with publisher, Boutique Books. The full series provides an invaluable archive chronicling 27 years of environmental justice action, struggle and gains through the course of groundWork’s history.
